The intervention comprises a central building, the park, the portico and the square) rebuilt around an idea that relates to the historical fabric and monuments of the city and attempts to configure, within this fragmentary situation, the shape of the city in this place. The new hospital is therefore the project of the city for the city: the attempt to transform a great hospital structure and, at the same time, part of Verona, through a human and architectural dialogue. The concept is of an “open hospital”, with a transparent and decipherable structure, but also a hospital-city, a complex multifunctional system made up of areas of various levels of protection and accessibility with a high environmental value.
