The project foresees the upgrading of the sewerage system and the waste water treatment plant serving the urban area of Vicenza (280.000 Equivalent Inhabitants). A Modular system is aimed to phase out previous existing smaller STPs to convey the whole waste water to teh WWTP located in Casale
The WWTP will consist of the following: a new building for wastewater pretreatment, a liquid waste treatment section and a sludge mechanical dewatering, a new biological reactor with extended aeration, n.6 secondary clarifiers, sand filtration, UV disinfection and exhaust air treatment by biofilter.
The works will be divided in functional phases.
After achieving the maximum treatment capacity, there will be a further upgrade with the introduction of the primary sedimentation and the anaerobic digestion, and the realization of biogas storages, cogeneration station and thermal drying for surplus sludge.
Moreover, the project involves the decommissioning of 10 minor WWTP and the construction of a pumping station (with an installed power of 900 kW) for the collection of further 130.000 Eq. Inh. served by combined sewer. Moreover, the project includes: 2 rain tanks of 15.000 m³ and a couple of DN700 transfer pipes 12 km long.
