The New Hospital of Cesena is a healthcare facility of high technological complexity, with an important representative and symbolic value for the urban context.
The site is northeast of the urban centre, in an urban expansion area, currently predominantly agricultural, with buildings of limited volume. The perimeter of the area is destined for a connection pathway at provincial level.
The site, although apparently simple, has in fact numerous constraints, and thus the designers planned an important and in-depth study for landscape, environmental and agricultural-forestry, as well as geological, seismic, hydraulic, traffic and acoustics.
The design of the new hospital in Cesena required a multidisciplinary team able to guarantee the necessary skills for the development and management of the various design phases (concept, schematic, detail design). In particular, Studio Altieri, as the Lead Designer, was in charge both of the Architectural Design, Fire Strategy and healthcare planning. Studio Altieri also acted as project coordination between all design disciplines (structural, MEP engineering, roads and infrastructures, furniture and equipment, landscae) ensuring both compliance with the contractual deadlines and the assigned budget, with a high-quality project.
